0-60mph: 2.5 seconds
The Bugatti Chiron's intricate W16 engine is undeniably impressive, but sometimes the raw power of a massive V8 with twin turbos is simply unbeatable. The SSC Tuatara features such a powerhouse—a twin-turbocharged V8 that delivers a staggering 1,750hp when fueled by ethanol. However, controversy surrounds the officially claimed top speed.
Initially, SSC declared that the Tuatara reached an astonishing 316mph in October 2020, purportedly making it the world's fastest car. Yet, they later acknowledged a GPS error that inaccurately displayed that speed. In subsequent tests conducted in early 2023, the car achieved an actual top speed of 295mph—an extraordinary feat that, while not breaking the previous claim, is still undeniably impressive.
